Choosing to allow your pet to transition peacefully might be the best option to ensure the last days of their life aren’t filled with anguish.

What happens during the process?

Before we carry out the procedure, we will share details about what you can expect so you can prepare your family and pet. During the days leading up to the procedure, it’s important for your loved ones to prioritize spending as much time with your furry family member as possible. It might be helpful to bring a favourite toy or blanket to the clinic on the day of the procedure so your pet can feel comfortable. The medicine we use ends your pet’s life almost instantaneously to ensure they feel as little discomfort as possible. It’s usually given intravenously, stopping their heart and brain in minutes. You’re welcome to use our grieving room if you need to.

How can I honour my pet’s life?

Before you peacefully end your pet’s life, make arrangements with your family and loved ones to say their goodbyes. It’s normal if this is difficult. Losing a family member is never easy. Your emotions are valid and our team can provide additional support/resources if you need them. Our veterinary team also offers cremation services if you choose to cremate your pet.
