Weight management provides you with the tools to manage your pet’s weight. Based on a healthy weight for your pet’s age, breed, lifestyle and other factors, we make recommendations on how to get your furry friend there. Unfortunately, it’s common for pets to be overweight in North America, with over 30% being obese.

How will weight management help my pet?

Weight management is a plan we’ll co-create with you for your pet. It will help them reach their goal weight. This might include adjustments to their diet and lifestyle, like restructuring their diet and incorporating more physical activity. It can be difficult to come to terms with your pet’s obesity. It’s normal to feel guilty, especially since you are entrusted with feeding your furry friend. Try not to be too hard on yourself. We’re here to support you to get your pet’s weight on track.

How does obesity affect pets?

Excess fat takes a toll on your furry family member’s body. Obesity impacts your pet’s quality of life, often shortening their lifespan and increasing the likelihood they’ll develop certain diseases. The extra fat tissue in your pet’s body places more stress on the body’s tissues, making them more susceptible to conditions like heart disease, cancer and osteoarthritis. What adjustments can I make at home to support my pet?

You are your pet’s keeper so it’s important to follow our recommendations as closely as possible so your furry friend will have successful results. Adjustments you might need to make at home include:

• Adjusting your pet’s diet, like reducing portion sizes or how often they eat
• Incorporating a new pet food (we have some available for purchase)
• Limiting unhealthy treats
• Incorporating healthy snacks like air-popped popcorn and frozen peas
